On Saturday September 14th, Saturday night more than 1000 guests were present at Domaine de Chevalier for the Ban des Vendanges 2013 ((the) Wine Harvest Festival) that we organized in cooperation with the “Commanderie du Bontemps” and the “Crus Classés de Graves.
A few days before the event, the weather, which was previously announced very good, has suddenly become pessimistic...Even more worrying.
Therefore, we changed our tactics and moved the location of the Garden Party, inward wine cellars. With good reason since the beginning of the inductions was greeted by a downpour, but without too much inconvenience, we had been prepared...
36 new commanders have been inducted, including Her Excellency Mrs Ursula Plassnik the Austrian Ambassador to France, the supermodel Adriana Karembeu, the saxophonist Manu Dibango...
Around dinner time, the rain stopped and at dessert we could all move out of the huge tent opened to the outside, to enjoy the fireworks above the vineyards and celebrate the 2013 vintage about to be born!
When diner time came, the rain slowly faded away to leave place to a beautiful night with rising stars above the fireworks which were a perfect blessing to the future birth of the soon to come vintage 2013.
Needless to narrate the evening, let the
images speak... We will only say that the, Gascon, dinner composed by Jean Coussau (**, Relais de la Poste) was opened by
Mr. Alain Juppé, Mayor of Bordeaux. It was preceded by a tasting of Crus Classés of Graves (whites). Then came the turn of Red Crus Classés, served at the table, starting with an iconic wine: Domaine de Chevalier Rouge 1983, first vintage harvested by Olivier Bernard! We ended in a blaze of glory with Château
La Mission Haut-Brion 1998!
