THE MONTE CARLO SBM commemorates its founding 150 years ago. This venerable
and yet very dynamic institution was founded in 1863 by François Blanc, with a trong ambition clearly expressed : "Here we present the Dream." The course was held by his successors who were able to make the SMB evolve while remaining unfailingly attached to the elegance and refinement that made its international reputation.
"Gastronomy plays an important part in
monegasque "Art de Vivre" and with it, the inclination for great wines." So, to celebrate this major step of its history, SBM has honored 150 great wines of
Bordeaux during 150 days (since June 22).
The originality is to offer these wines, by the glass in 19 participating establishments: the customers will have access to a range covering all the prestigious Bordeaux appellations as well as a large scale classification, vintage and prices...(the vast majority is offered between 20 an 30 Euros)

"This tasting by the glass of relatively young wines is a direct response to customer demand. People are drinking less, but they request better quality wines and seek discovery of some rare or lesser-known vintages. Wine by the glass is also more adaptable: it alows the customer the pleasure of enjoying the perfect food-wine pairing at every moment of a meal; it also becomes an elegant alternative to the classic aperitif, or the last glass of the evening."
The wines are selected by Gennaro Iorio
and several "chefs sommeliers": Noël Bajor (Le Louis XV-ALAIN DUCASSE), Franck Damatte ( Hôtel Hermitage), Patrice Franck (Hotel de Paris), Bruno Scavo (Le Sporting/ Le Casino), Gérard Veyrat (Monte Carlo Bay)...
Did you know that in 1980, their cellar contained 500 references, today it holds 6500, of which 2000 are from Bordeaux !
For this occasion, Casino Square is transforming itsef into a pop-up vineyard! Imagined by Jean Mus (the Mediterranean landscape artist) , this tiny parcel of land (8000 M2) disposed in the shape of a star from the central basin overlooks the Mediterranean.
"Here we present the Dream!" Thanks !
