I purchased a magnum of 1981 back in 1990 and it has become by favorite wine of all. The '81 was dark, inky, black currents with tannin, oak and fruit all perfectly balanced and great legs running down the glass. We still keep the empty bottle on the kitchen counter just to remind me how wonderful this wine was at the time. And we keep a few of the other years around as well! Just broke out our last 2006 this month and shared it with some of our best friends.
